An End Of The Year Warning For The GOP

By: JP Plott

We’ve reached the end of 2025, the year that brought us the greatest political comeback in American history, with Donald Trump’s re-election as president. The Republican Party was full of life, ready to undo all of the tremendous damage that the Biden administration unleashed upon our nation. The GOP declared that “woke” was dead, and that America’s golden age was now upon us.

Now, with almost a full year of Trump’s presidency behind us, how have the Republicans done? With control of every branch of government, there was a tremendous mandate for the GOP to get active. They did not. In 2025, Congress set a modern record of inactivity, with the fewest laws passed since 1989. Under 40 bills were signed into law. Let me remind you, this is the same Congress that Republicans gained full control over in 2024. What did they do with it? They allowed the Democrats to shut down the government for the longest period in history, they codified only $9.4 billion of the $214 billion worth of waste discovered by DOGE (according to DOGE.gov), and allowed the Epstein files debacle to completely ruin the image of the GOP going into 2026. The major accomplishment was passing the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a reconciliation bill that significantly increased the debt ceiling and government spending. Although this appropriated record-setting funding towards the border and for ICE to conduct deportations, there have still only been 327,000 deportations of illegal immigrants as of December 14, according to ICE data compiled by the Guardian. To sum it up, 2025 has been all bark but no bite from Republicans.

The courts have slowed down major actions by Trump, and the Supreme Court will determine the constitutionality of Trump’s tariffs next year. Let’s say, hypothetically, the Supreme Court deems the tariffs as unconstitutional, and that Congress has the authority to levy tariffs. Do we really have faith that the Republican Congress will enact said tariffs into law? They have given us no reason to believe that they would. Many were of the belief that if Republicans lost the midterms, it would be because they were so “fascist” and extreme that they lost their independent crowd. I would actually beg to differ. If Republicans lose the midterms, it will be because of their usual inaction, and in response, their Conservative voters will have had enough. Trump did not get thrown in jail, get shot in the ear, and come roaring back to the White House for his Republican Congress to fail to codify his agenda.

Trump was recently caught on a hot mic complaining about how the Republicans are allowing Democrats to stall on appointing his nominations, and barely any of his people are being put to work. That’s a microcosm of the entire issue. Democrats stall, while Republicans allow them to do so — choosing not to nuke the filibuster when Democrats kept the government shut down for over a month because “we wouldn’t want them to do that to us!” Democrats don’t consider Republicans one bit when they’re in power and are completely destroying them. They do whatever is necessary to effectively implement their agenda. If Republicans don’t start doing the same before the midterms in 2026, they will have no power to do anything, and we will spend each week voting on whether to impeach Trump for any reason under the sun.

Mike Johnson said earlier this week that he was not concerned about losing the midterms in 2026. That, my friends, is either a bluff or just pure ignorance. I wonder if Mike Johnson has stepped outside of his Republican echo chambers lately and heard the cries from his Republican voters. Primarily, the young conservatives of America. The Left is coming for blood in 2026. They are angry and currently united to completely derail Trump. They’re shooting our influencers like Charlie Kirk, attacking ICE/DHS agents, and they cannot be allowed to take back power! If the GOP fails to recognize the threat at hand before November 2026, things could get real ugly in a hurry. There’s still time to act, but not much. The time is now, Republicans.
